AN INVITATION
To Prospective Members:
Thank you for showing interest in becoming a member of the
West Seattle
Women's Golf Club. The WSWGC has been in existence since the 1940's and
many lasting friendships have been formed over the years. We have some
social events during the year, but our main objective is to provide a
friendly atmosphere in which to learn about golf, to play golf, and to
offer the chance for some fun competition. Our club constitution states
"membership in this club shall consist of women who are available
to play golf on competition days between March 1st and October 31st."
If you are interested in becoming a member, you should contact the Membership Chairman, Janet Gaunt, at 206-932-7019. She will send you an information package including an application to be filled out and mailed along with your check. Annual dues are $70.00 plus a $5.00 initiation fee. Dues pay for your GHIN number and handicap, reserved tee-times on Tuesdays, weekly competition fees, most WSWGC tournament fees and operating expenses, as well as providing a great opportunity to meet and play with other women golfers.
Once your dues are received, we will notify our handicap Chairman, Stacy Stratton, and she will assign you a GHIN (golf handicap information network) number and a handicap if you don’t already have one. If you have been playing before joining our club and have 5 scorecards from 5 rounds of golf, you may use those scores to obtain your handicap right away. Otherwise, you can collect 5 cards from the next 5 rounds and Stacy will submit those. Once you have a handicap and a GHIN number, you are eligible to play in the weekly competitions. (Note: until you get your GHIN number and handicap, you can still play with us but just can’t enter the competitions).
Special dates each year are: Get Acquainted Breakfast, Spring Field Day, Best Ball Foursome, Club Championship, Partnership Tournament, and Susan G. Komen Fall Field Day. We also run an eclectics competition throughout the season and award prizes for the most birdies and chip-ins.
WSWGC is a member of the Greater Seattle Women's Public Golf Association, the Washington State Women's Public Links Association and the PNGA and we have a team that plays in the City league. Club meetings are held periodically throughout the season after one of our Tuesday morning golf rounds. All members are encouraged to attend the meetings and take an active part in the club.
